The settlement was in need of urgent canalization, because the ground and other nearby water bodies are sensitive to nitrate contamination. In order to protect the local environment an EU co-financed project was started, and BDL was selected to complete the permit and detailed design phases.
The technological concept includes: mechanical treatment (fine screens, aerated grease and sand removal), KBA type compact aerobe activated sludge treatment. The technology secures ammonia and organic substrate removal, denitrification, and phosphorous removal with supplementary chemical dosing, TSS removal with sedimentation.
The excess sludge gets thickened, and dehydrated with a belt press.
The trial period was conducted successfully. The discharge regulation, and the trial period results for the relevant pollutants are the followings:
discharge limit | trial period results | ||
KOIkr | 75 | 50 > | g/m3 |
BOI5 | 25 | 10 > | g/m3 |
Total-N | 25 | 8 > | g/m3 |
Total-P | 5 | 5 > | g/m3 |
