Szentendre, wastewater treatment

Municipal wastewater treatment

Hydraulic capacity: Q = 350 m3/d

Biological load: 2 600 PE

Some parts of Szentendre, Tahitótfalu, Leányfalu, Horány and Surány settlements lacked canalization, so the design and execution of several new wastewater sub-systems was required, in order to ensure the protection of the nearby drinking water sources, and sensitive natural habitats. The existing overloaded treatment plant was not expected to handle the increased load, so an extension should have been designed and built.

After the existing mechanical treatment phase, an automatically controlled weir provides the even load of the newly designed technology. The aerobe activated process provides ammonium and organic matter reduction, and tertiary treatment.

The trial period was conducted successfully. The discharge regulation, and the trial period results for the relevant pollutants are the followings:

  discharge limit trial period results
KOIkr 75 30 > g/m3
BOI5 25 10 > g/m3
Total-N 25 25 > g/m3
TSS 35 10 > g/m3
NH3-NH4-N 5 1 > g/m3
